The Cape Flats was rocked by a wave of bloodshed today and last night, as multiple shootings erupted across different areas, leaving a trail of death and fear in their wake.
In Westridge, Mitchells Plain, two people were gunned down in their own home, their lives cut short in what appears to be yet another brutal attack. The motive behind the killings remains unclear, but the community is left shaken by the loss.
Chaos unfolded in Lotus River last night, when gunfire erupted at a gang leader’s memorial service in 6th Avenue. Seven people were shot, turning what was meant to be a moment of remembrance into a scene of horror.
The violence continued in Bonteheuwel, where two individuals were shot near a nolocal clinic. Whether they were targeted or caught in the crossfire is still unknown, but the ongoing cycle of shootings in the area leaves residents fearing for their safety.
In Manenberg, another attack took place on Rio Grande Street, where two people were shot.
One of whom was reportedly a gang member. The streets that have seen so much bloodshed before were once again marked by violence.
Meanwhile, in Atlantis, a man was shot and injured, though details of the incident remain scarce.

A video is just post on a Cape Flats Whatsapp group, of an attempted hijacked on Eisleben road, directions Highlands drive, New Woodlands. They took man and woman’s cellphones and the woman’s handbag. The car windows was smashed. In the video the man sit with his head down on his hands on the pavement. The woman sit on the back seat of their smashed car, while they waiting for the police.
With crime gripping the Cape Flats, communities are left asking: when will the bloodshed end?
